You, Me and Reality

Mt. Timpanogos is a distinguishing land formation in Utah. From the West side in Nephi, it does not require a great deal of imagination to envision the shape of mountain skyline as a woman lying down.

The legend goes that an Indian maiden, Utana, committed suicide by throwing herself off the mountain in Romeo-and-Juliet fashion, after her true love, Red Eagle, died from injuries in a bear attack.

Interestingly enough if you look at the mountain from the East side in Heber you do not see the detailed image of a woman upon the mountain top but rather a more standard looking land form without any of these distinctive markings.

I mention this as a metaphor. In life we experience the same reality but where we stand will determine how we perceive that reality. It is a subjective experience for each of us and though it may be perceived in various manners that does not negate the validity of our perception or the perception of another.

In short essence it is all contingent upon where you are standing!

On the B Side: I am grateful for little analogies such as this that help me come to a higher level of understanding. xoxo

The Unpack Attack!

I made it through another 8 boxes last night and I think the kitchen is now complete...funny that I have not missed it! One of my favorite Christmas gifts was a mega gift certificate to My Girl Friend's Kitchen. It's a great alternative to doing the domestic duty!

Marky worked all day to finally clear out the garage. He had to make a run to the dump to get rid of all of the garbage we had accumulated. He also made a serious DI run...anything to downsize!!

Things I still cannot find;
-Toilet Scrubber (we're in need & may need to run to Walmart!)
-$100 Gift Certy to Nordstrom's (insert big, sad sigh here!)
-Shellbait's Christmas gift (gave up on Rebecca's)
-One of the shelves in the fridge (it's totally MIA!)

I also have a bunch of "crap stacks" (in the words of our Marky) that need to be addressed today. I'm determined to have only ONE junk drawer!

On the B Side: I am grateful to be able to downsize and organize. Once I get the house completely situated my universe will be back in sync and all will be well!

No Need to Apologize!

The only real reason I can see to apologize is for the fact that I swiped this from the kids Dad's blog! It was too precious not to share! The song is actually called 'Apologize' and because of it I've had to often explain to the kids that it is NEVER too late to apologize despite this catchy tune! Check out D's sweet moves!

PS I know exactly why Dayton knew those lyrics when he saw the video!

On the B Side: I am grateful that each of our little children come with their own pre-packaged personalities that just keep getting bigger! xxox

Did Heavenly Father Make His Own Self?

This was the question Ellie asked me on the way home from school today!

On the B Side: I love their little inquisitive minds! And so enquiring minds want to know rings true!

Me and 14 of My Closest Friends

OH MY HECK! Check out the MAV. Yes, the Mormon Assault Vehicle. I'm ready to bind my hair in a bun, throw jeans under my long outdated skirt, strap all 14 kids in and call myself a Polygamist!

While on the way to our first Ultra Sound a few weeks ago a Toyota hopped out of it's lane heading North bound on I-15 while traveling 70 MPH and smacked off the side of my Denali. The Toyota was messed up pretty bad; however, my tank endured with minimal damage. It is now being repaired and yes, bless Enterprise Rental's...they gave us a 15 passenger van. SWEETNESS!

Looks like I'm taking my friends at work to lunch today!!!

On the B Side: I am grateful that we were safe and protected and pray that we will continually be so! Long live the 'Genali'! xoxo

Marky Mark Triumps!

Mark got a call today from his boss and is being promoted!! I'm so excited for him and so proud of him!! He'll be at a different store now and will have even better hours! YAY MARKY!!!!

On the B Side: I am so grateful for Marky Mark and all of his hard work! He does a great job providing and caring for our little family! xoxo

***Rubin and the Grateful Ed***

My boys need a home! Rubin and Ed

The link will actually take you to the information that is posted; however, I am not interested in gaining in any manner (translated there is no costs associated) but I need to be sure that they find a good home!

If you know anyone in the SLC who has a soft spot for kitties please have them contact me!

On the B Side: I am grateful for my boys! They have been with me for almost 8 years and have comforted me thru some difficult times! They have been patient with my babies for years!

Things Our Children Say

Kayla called her Dad two days ago and asked if we had already had the baby. She was convinced that the baby had already been born! Mark had to keep explaining that it would happen closer to her birthday. I wonder if she had a dream about this?

Ellie and Dayton were playing 'The Cat in the Hat' last night and I overheard Ellie say to Conrad (Dayton), "It doesn't feel very good when you can't breathe, huh?" She's a funny little gal!

Last night when I was putting the kids to bed Dayton sweetly stroked my cheek and said, "Good night, sweetheart. I love you, honey" and then he touched my closed eye lids and said, "I think the baby crawled up and is wiggling your eyes!" I heart him!

They all make me laugh and I do so love them!!

On the B Side: I love experiencing life thru their eyes! xxox

Sharing the Love

While we are still settling in today was just another day of neglecting the things that really need to be done! Liz came over shortly after Noon and brought lunch (thanks Liz!) We chatted the afternoon away and it was nice to relax. The kids came home from their Dad's and Marky's been busy trying to get their beds back together! Micci made it back from Cali and we're headed into another new week!

Luckily Mark has some time off so he can relax and get some things done around the house. As for me today here's a small list of the things I accomplished;

-Ironed the curtains in the living room and our bed room (they were driving me nuts!)
-Washed, dried, folded and put away all of the laundry
-Took out 4 bags of trash
-Changed (and washed!) all of the bed linens
-Loaded and ran the dishwasher
-Ran Dayton's belt & Ellie's tap shoes to them at their Dad's (two trips, mind you!)
-Emptied two more big boxes
-Started (but did not finish!) filling the kids dressers with their clothes
-Finished putting away the last of the Christmas decor (way late on this one, I know!)
-Had quality talk time with my Wih! (WIH ROCKS!)
-Got to talk to my Dad and Mom

There were no naps but you can bet that will be to bed early! Maybe tomorrow I will find my dishes! I will admit that after the cat fiasco my car is finally stench free! I was also excited that the kids got to go to Church with their Dad today.

Rebecca, if you're reading this...Gecko's is out of the picture from now on! That Mexi meal kept me and baby up way too much last night! Hope you're feeling better after a long day of merciless shopping!

On the B Side: I am grateful for the many wonderful people in my life...even if I am one of the brain tumor wackos that Liz merely has compassion for! hee hee xoxo

Jr. Jazz Basketball

Dayton had his very first game yesterday morning! He was so excited and made us all smile! He ran around and did a great job! He's the youngest on the court and still has plenty to learn but the best part is that he loves it so much!

I had to laugh because at one point he left the court to confer with his dad as he was thirsty. Out he ran to the hallway in the middle of the game to remedy this imposition! At another point during the middle of the game while he was on the court he went up to his Coach (Uncle Bryan) and said he was really tired and needed to rest!!! Of course Coach swapped him out quick but nonetheless it was comical!

He also had team and individual pictures afterwards so we're excited to see those! I can't believe my little DD Cakes is getting so big!!!

On the B Side: I am grateful that Dayton is able to have an opportunity such as this. I know that all children are not so fortunate. As his Mother it warms me heart to see him so happy and to watch him learn and grow from this experience. xxox
