Breaking what? BREAKING MY HEART! I'm sorry, did you say Breaking Dawn or Broken Down?!
I know, I know. It's the Twlight series. Do I love it? Yes. The answer is yes. I am satisfied/pleased with Breaking Dawn? No. The answer is no. This is just my silly opinion and part of it is shadowed by the fact that it's all over.
I did love the continuity, the complexity of relationships, the sacrifice, the choices and the agency given to the characters. The emotional draw is also a plus with Meyer; however, it wasn't nearly as strong for me in this one.
On a less pleasant but still realistic note, the plot felt rushed and underdeveloped (despite the 760+ pages). Everything was tied up pretty as a package, the forshadowing was somewhat obvious and the messages it sends are not realistic. Bleck.
Ultimately as much as I liked it, I didn't love it. The bar was set way too high far too early with the previous three books. I am left feeling like she needs to redeem herself with another book
On the B Side: I love to read and making time to do so has been a priority with this author. The character development has been suburb (except for that one with the awful name that I will not mention) and the play lists seriously rock!! I'm sad/frustrated/disappointed/relieved that it's over until the movie (that I'm not sure I can bear to watch!)
7 shout outs:
I have read the first three and really liked them. I have the last one and want to start reading, but I think I'm worried I will be disappointed so I haven't started yet.
You already know how I feel my darlin'! ;)
giggle giggle! I didn't KNOW you were a Twilight fan! I just read them this summer (3 times in a month) and went to a midnight release party for this one.
So what was the deal with all the new characters and starting a bunch of new plot lines instead of giving us what we REALLY wanted? (Edward Edward Edward!)
Halfway through the third and absolutely can't get enough....so who's team am I on Jacob's or Edward's hmmmmmmmmmm. Can't she(Bella)/we have her cake and eat it too!
Love ya Brit..Glad to know we have something else in common.
I wish we (you, me, and Clancy... and anyone else who wants) could get together and have a fun book review. You guys make me think about it more.
I am very disappointed that it is over, but I enjoyed the book. I think she kind of left it open to write more if she wanted to with all the new characters and the Vulturi and all that. (Can you hear my very loud wishful thinking?)
