We had many snow days growing up in PA. We would carefully watch the local news as they announced the delays and cancellations. If we missed the regular announcements we would closely watch the scrolling text and carefully notice all the surrounding areas as to best gauge and guess what our fate would be.
There really was nothing more exciting than a snow day home from school...even knowing that we would have to make it up later in the year! We would continue to monitor the tv, knowing that many times the powers that be would change their minds as the weather changed and with luck on our side...worsen (or at least scare the administrators enough to give us a break!). One time and one time only did Penn State ever declare a snow day (while I was there) and what a wonderful day that was!
On the B Side: Today seemed like another day full of dirty black trapped air here in the valley; however, when we left church the snow was falling in big clean, fresh flakes! The storms lift the inversion and give us clean air once more in Utah and that is the only thing more exciting than a snow day in PA!

I remember snow days too! They were the best days ever as a child. We would have many of them in Idaho because of the drifting snow. You are right, there is no better feeling than that of a snow day!
I'm itching for a snow day right now!
The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event! This is my first time to join here.. Mine's up too hope you can drop by... Have a fun day!
Snow days are the best aren't they?! Unfortunately for us living in the south they come far and few between. :(
MM ~ Snow in the south.
I loved snow days as a kid...Same here -- we only had one snow day in college (BGSU) and we made the best outta it.
I'm thinking next year I may hate snow days. LOL! :) XOXO
I do love the clean that it brings!
Happy Monday.
My daughter teaches 1st grade and says the teachers love the snow days more than the kids! Hehe...
My MM is up!
When I was at Utah State they had a record snowfall and actually closed the school. It was January 24th... um 2002 I think. It seems like we got 2 feet overnight on top of 1-2 feet already there. We had a blast playing in the snow. The guys (our neighbors) built a snow-fort. My roommate spent a lot of time with her to-be husband (didn't know it at the time, weren't even dating). It was great fun!
I overheard some kids in the complex next to mine during our 10 day snowstorms. They said it was the best holiday every with all the snow.
Happy MM!
The air is pretty nasty here. News said last week Utah has the dirtiest in the nation. I say CLEAN IT UP!
Do you have any pictures of snow from Penn?
