Manic Monday: Club

While I'm not at liberty to write about my time at the club in OC NJ (pre-mish and way cleaner then any cage dancing at the Vortex) it was the first thing that came to my mind.

The next thought seeing the image Mo chose for 'Club' reminds me of my Mom's side of the family; the Shaws. My Grandmother came from a family of 15 as there were 13 kids and she has a twin. Uncle Bob is still alive and just celebrated his 92nd birthday!

The Shaws love to play cards and always play Hi-Lo Jack. I am not much of a card shark myself but always enjoyed watching them play when we gathered together! Every August we would meet at the cottage in Roaring Creek that my Grandfather had built. The original 13 children and their familes would all get together for a weekend of food, fun and lots of cards! I miss home...home home.

On the B Side: My babies are home! We're all excited for a brand new week! This is my last week home with Elles...ever. They are all fast asleep and everything feels complete once more.

Great post. My family was not one for games of any kind, but I have know people before that played a lot. I love playing cards and would do a lot of it if I had others to play with. I love Hand & Foot Canasta!!

Mark father's side family is like that. We play cards every time we visit. Our favorite is the Wizard and Phase 10.

13 kids! Yikes!

I can remember sneaking downs the hall with my sister to eavesdrop on the pinochle or bridge games the folks played with their friends. It was just the two of us. I guess that made sneaking a little easier.

I can't imagine trying to sneak 13 of us into the hallway!

Hey, just coming back by to say thanks for stopping in. Bring on the questions girlfriend! I'm here for ya. :)

I'll answer what I can...the baby's due on Thursday, but you know how that goes. If I'm out of commission for a few days, know this...I am addicted to blogging, so it will not be for long. :D

Come back when ya get a chance!

Not a card lover myself... it's one of those things that I don't ever want to do, but once I'm doing it it's super fun.

Glad your babies are home. Love your guts. Would you stop worrying about the birthday thing! You cute girl! I was just thrilled that you had even considered it and it's hard to be disappointed when it was a surprise party and I didn't know ANY of it was happening. So stop it with the guilt!!!! :)

Love you!

We play Crazy Eights. My MIL likes poker but she can't even see the large print cards I bought her any more. I had a boyfriend in college that tried to teach me hearts or maybe it was bridge. I think we were a little distracted.

We play poker and do puzzles. During TS Fay, we lost power and MotherDear suggested we play cards, but then the power came on and all she wanted to then was watch the Weather Channel.

I always loved playing cards as a kid, and my kids are getting good at it too, the younger one especially.

Thanks so much for stopping in at my blog & happy MM to you too!

When we used to visit my had we would play cribbage, and a lot of word games like scrabble and boggle. My dad, step mom and older brother used to play canasta, hearts, and rummy. I was too little. My dad was always up for a game of fish! Very nice memories.
Please let me know if I can help with Elle and Adi.

I'm glad they're home and all is well with the world again! I'm feeling like I could use a serious break from mine at the moment, but I know I'd miss them desperately once they were actually gone...

Enjoy that last week with Elles!

Thanks for the post. I love watching Kathy do her comedy! I'll see you Tuesday! I promise to be the 'good' girl. I'm trying to get my sister to come too. I think you and her would get along. She is the opposite of me, meaning she filters things she says, unlike me!

Oh, I love playing cards. My husband doesn't, though, so the only time I get to play is when we go camping and my mom comes along. We like to play Phase Ten. We always start laughing like morons half-way through for some reason and start making stupid jokes. It's hilarious. I think anyone watching us would think we had escaped from the looney bin or something. :0)

I'm glad your kids are home. Yay!
