Once upon a time there was a girl who blogged. Recently she was reminded how cathartic it can be. For starters, I've been thinking a lot about personal perspective lately. Perspective encompasses so much and here is mine on a specific topic.
Here is a list of why I love my job;
1. I am surrounded by crazy talented people.
2. I work with people around the world.
3. I contribute to the greater whole.
4. I have opportunity to train formally.
5. I have opportunity to travel.
6. I work with many different lines of business.
7. I work remotely from home (in my jammies!)
8. I get to run really cool projects.
9. The work is constantly changing.
10. I really like my boss and extended team.
11. I can track my efforts and see personal and professional progress.
12. I earn an honest paycheck.
The very most important reason;
13. I am learning every day!
On the B Side: It matters very little what I do. The point is that I LOVE WHAT I DO. For starters, I have a job and I choose to love it! It doesn't matter who you are or where you work, there will always be positive aspects of the work if you choose to recognize them. I love my job and being able to progress. I love moving forward and contributing to the greater good of a company. Everyday I become a little more talented and a little more skilled. Some times that comes by being in the heart of the fire and some times that comes by nature of those around me and yet other times that comes from the sheer experience of just doing it. Any way you look at it, I am well aware just how lucky I am to have not only a job but this job!

Thursday Thirteen - Things That Made Me Laugh Today
1. When Dayton said he needed 'Tylegnol' (his head hurt)
2. The mouth breather during staff meeting...I swear he was eating the phone.
3. All of the things I find in our bed. It's like a Cracker Jacks box. You just never know what you're going to get. Baby lotion, a pee ball diaper, part of Mark's drill set...the fun never ends.
4. Old emails from Shell. Memories, all alone in the moonlight!
5. When Ellie told me she is going to dance to 'Spoonful of Sugar' in her 'baby doll dress'
6. Hearing that another storm is setting in tomorrow.
7. Learning that there are 2 leagues in football; NFL and AFL. Who knew?
8. Watching Adi crinkle her nose a squeal with delight when I got home.
9. Listening to Adi fake cry when I walked away after getting home. Yes, I really did laugh.
10. Franjesh and his silly antics at work.
11. Reading about Crystal's notion of boyfriend bonfires and her desire to swim with sharks.
12. Reading Jennifer's idea, 'Edward Cullen: better than you since 1918'
13. Thinking about my cousin telling us that there were bombs in a fence in area at our Grandparents...I totally believed him!
On the B Side: Mark took a personal day to care for Adi. Dayton stayed home as he's been sick. Mark asked me today, 'how do you get anything done?' and that definitely made me laugh! He is sweet for helping so much with the kids. The office really is my retreat and ten times easier than any day at home (but I'd stay home in a heart beat!) Mark also informed me tonight that Adi likes french fries...grrrrrrreat. xoxo

Thursday 13: Things Not to Do
Don't
1. Put stinky burp clothes in your purse and forget about them.
2. Underestimate the ability of your chidlren.
3. Buy pants that are a size too small thinking you'll get into them
4. Take 4 kids at 6:30 in the morning in the rain to vote.
5. Not talk for the sake of avoiding confrontation.
6. Put a red shirt in with your white wash.
7. Sit back and hope that life gets better.
8. Let your kids eat push pops in the car.
9. Make more food than necessary thinking you'll eat left overs.
10. Jump in the shower without looking (hat spider was HUGE)
11. Put off a task hoping it will go away.
12. Hesitate to call someone you care about.
13. Turn away even a small opportunity to serve.
On the B Side: These are all things that I have learned/re-learned this week! It's been a good week. Despite that, I am ready for it to end! And as an added thought: Don't put off blogging and catching up on others blogs! I suck bad!! Project catching up starts to night! xxOx

Thursday Thirteen
1. I got the cutest phone call from the kids. They are in FL with their Dad and Step Mom for food, fun and fantasy (oh wait, that's Knoebels!) They were just boarding a 'big boat' for the Disney cruise of a lifetime!
2. Mark has had the whole week off and has done a flippin' butt load of packing, cleaning, moving and unpacking during his 'vacation'. Right now he's hanging our flat screen so I can get me a little Glenn Beck and Nancy Grace! Nothing but Good Vibrations here with my Marky Mark!
3. Is there such thing as a crazy cat man? My Dad got another cat. Does he really need that many? At one point he had 8 or 9 and they keep disappearing. Psst...someone is trying to tell you something, Popsicle!
4. Mark chipped his tooth almost completely out. While he was telling me how white trash it looked we had big ears in the corn field...Ellie has proceeded to tell people that Mark has white trash in his mouth!
5. Dayton was laying in bed the other night and said, "Mom, what if there was no night? We would just have to take naps all of the time!"
6. Sunday we went to Alan Alda's birthday party and had a blast! The highlight of the event was listening to my little nephew Carter tell people to shut their eye ball after he heard his Dad say shut your pie hole! Carter also told his Mom that Adi looked smarter than her!
7. Kayla has been with us this week while her Mom is out of town. We've enjoyed being full time parents and have had a blast. For some reason she loves the new place hardcore!
8. Adi was at the doc's. She had a diaper rash that just wouldn't quit. Turns out it was a yeast infection...wth?!
9. Last Friday we went to the clubhouse and watched, 'Mr Magorium's Magic Emporium' in the theatre. The kids were all in their jammies and allowed to stay up a little later. At 8:30 Ellie came over and told me, 'Actually Mom, I think I really need to exercise' as she wiggled her bum back and forth and pretended to run in place with her arms going back and forth! The best part: she was serious!
10. This week the highlights at work we had a paper plate throwing contest and a paper airplane making/throwing contest. The 800 pound gorilla has gone ape!
11. Dayton was munching on popcorn chicken in the back of my MAV when he asked, "Mom, what happens to me if you die?" We had to cautiously address this and of course the next natural question was, 'Wel, what if Dad and Mommy Amy die, too?". We explained that lots of people love him and nobody is going anywhere!
12. Our refi is still swirling :( We've got to dump that dang ARM.
13. My Mom finally told me the cold, hard truth. Rubin is in a no kill shelter and Eddie Spaghetti ran away. Nothing beats tears in Target with 4 sets of little eyes watching! Of course they wanted to know what was up and then I had 3 sad little munchkins who won't quit talking about it (and I'm sure Adi was sad on the inside!).
On the B Side: The docs did another EKG on my Dad and it went well EXCEPT for the dead tick that they found on his chest...lyme disease from a tick started this whole crazy mess. Just stay healthy Pops and remember, the good die young...you ain't going anywhere! xoxo

Random Thursday 13
1. You know you suck rocks when your 6 year old innocently asks, 'Mom, why aren't you happy?'
2. Adi is sleeping like a champ through the night and this makes my world so much better.
3. When your home is a mess the universe feels completely upside down and out of sync.
4. Why is that we always hurt the ones we love the most?
5. When did I adopt the policy of hanging up on people? Last night. Sorry Mikey :(
6. Ellie wore capri's today...shocking and so cute to have her in something other than a skirt!
7. Not wearing my garments makes me cranky and uncomfortable. See #8.
8. My washing machine and dryer are my life line.
9. Buying clothes are Walmart to you have something clean to wear sucks real bad. See #8.
10. Not taking things personally makes life so much easier across the board.
11. Communication and compromise are vital/crucial/critical/imperative/absolutely necessary.
12. It's way too easy to get caught up in things that just don't matter.
13. Being at the office is the easiest part of my life.
On the B Side: Sometimes when we see/feel the downside of things/life it brings a greater appreciation of the good/real/important things. Thank you for being patient with me this morning, Marky. I'm slowly climbing out of this yucky place!

Thursday's 13
1. To the dude who almost ramrodded the back of me today on his motorcycle going way too fast...pay attention! No one wants to live with those memories because of your carelessness.
2. To anyone who uses a public restroom, please do not use the stall directly next to another person when all of the other stalls are empty. Easy enough, right?
3. FaceBook, you were never cool. I'm way over you.
4. It's one thing to be tired but why must we be punished and have to look tired?
5. Take note: fat jokes are not funny. At all.
6. Ethnocentricity is real. Get over yourself!
7. Do I stare at you when your child cries? No. It's called courtesy...please get some!
8. Bobby pins do not belong up a baby's nose and I should not have to tell anyone that.
9. If I trip over your shoes you can bet your bippy that I ain't gonna be happy!
10. Guess what? If you pay things on time you don't have to pay late fees. Deep, I know.
11. Nutramigen is expensive, sticky, stinky and sometimes a necessary evil. Ugh.
12. Just because someone is being realistic doesn't mean that they are being mean.
13. Intentions are everyting but nothing without action.
On the B Side: I know I'm grumpy and I know it will pass! It's kind of like that little freckled face red head once sang, the sun will come out tomorrow!
PS - Heard in our house this week out of Dayton's funny little mouth, "Cheater, cheater Pumpkin Chowder!" Good one!
